About Gexa Energy
Gexa Energy has been around, operating in the Texas electricity market since 2002. That’s the same year the state deregulated energy, giving customers the power to choose a provider. But longevity doesn’t mean the Houston-based company isn’t innovative. It announced in 2019 that all Gexa Energy electricity plans would be powered by 100 percent renewable energy at no additional cost to consumers.
Gexa Energy is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, which currently generates more than 17,000 megawatts of wind and solar generation in North America. It offers great residential and business energy plans in Texas. Service areas include:

Which provider has the cheapest Texas electricity rates?
That’s a tricky question. Cheap rates don’t always translate to low bills – Texas electricity providers display tiered electricity rates at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh. Within those tiers, bill credits can apply for some levels of electricity consumption.
That’s where Atlas comes in. We plug your usage into our custom algorithm to find the best plan for your usage throughout the year. For example, Texans use more than twice as much electricity on average in August than they do in April. We take the long view to evaluate plans on the value they convey and present you with recommendations.
