About Pulse Power
Pulse Power is a newcomer to the electricity market in Texas and started providing service to its customers in 2019. It’s slogan is “founded by Texans for Texans,” and the company is based in The Woodlands. Pulse’s goal is to make electricity a simple process for its customers.
Pulse Power electric prices are bundled for residential service, making it easier for Texans to understand their electric bills. There are no additional charges on your bill, besides taxes and utility charges. Pulse Power only offers fixed rate plans so customers don’t have to worry about changes in the market. Among the areas the company serves are:
What’s the best Pulse Power plan?
Pulse Power plans have a variety of term options, including six-month, 12-month, 18-month, 24-month, and 36-month plans. Some of these plans are:
- Texas Fixed. One of Pulse’s main plan offerings, customers can choose a term length anywhere from 6 to 36 months. A fixed price means no rate fluctuations.
- Texas Saver 12. On this 12-month plan, customers receive a bill credit of $95 when they reach 1,000-kilowatt hours (kWh). It includes an early termination fee of $125.
- Texas Green. This plan uses 100% renewable energy. There’s a $20 per month early termination fee for each month remaining on your contract.
Pulse Power offers discounts for autopay enrollment and online billing. Since the company does not offer plans throughout the entire state of Texas, you’ll need to enter your zip code to see if your area is covered. Additionally, your energy usage will be the biggest factor in finding the right plan for you. Is Pulse Power a good company?
By regularly rating all the providers we show on our site, it allows us (and you) to keep track of how they’re doing, and if they’re a good option for Texas customers. Here’s how Pulse Power did during our review process:
Pulse Power rating: 2.3 stars
Pulse Power earned points for its satisfaction guarantee as well as its use of online bill pay and usage alerts. The company stumbled in the business history category since it just began service in Texas in 2019. Other areas for improvement include its complaint score with the Public Utility Commission of Texas and lack of online chat and Better Business Bureau accreditation.
Which provider has the cheapest Texas electricity rates?
There is no real answer to this question. Changes in the market mean electricity rates are always in flux. Add in discounts and incentives providers offer and the cheapest rate quoted may not give you the cheapest bill. For example, the plans that offer free electricity in the evening or on the weekend often have higher daytime rates. It’s important to know how much electricity you use at different times of the day to see how this could affect you.
That’s where Atlas comes in. We look at the big picture to see how market changes could affect you. We enter the information you give us about your energy usage into our custom algorithm to recommend plans that will work for you both now and later. That means we can tell you if, for example, a free nights or free weekends plan would work, or if you’re better off with a different option.
